Iran and the domino effect
It's hard to judge how much more Iran could really affect the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan (much would certainly depend on how much damage strikes inflicted) but it would be safe to bet that oil prices would be greatly affected if nothing else. And high energy prices are more likely to hurt us and help our current set of rivals than anything else (both in terms of international standing and economic hardships).

The law of unintended consequences is an important thing as it is, but AT THIS SCALE, it becomes so overwhelming that it can certainly be put on a scale with a nuclear-armed Iran.
I would agree. And it really comes down to a simple equation: does the threat of Iranian nuclear capability outweigh the potential consequences of $200 oil...?
Sounds simple but really isn't of course. Adding up the consequences of each is next to impossible...and then there's the simple question of whether we even CAN do enough damage to disable their program...
I have my doubts.
