The White House today confirmed rumors that European intelligence agencies had confirmed the presence of Martian WMD programs. Unnamed sources high in the administration have confirmed that preliminary plans for dealing aggressively with these new proliferators were in the works.

"We cannot sit back and wait for the Martians to come to us! We must act now - before they develop the capability to destroy Earth!"

Meanwhile, a Martian spokesman was equally adamant that their programs are peaceful and meant merely to produce new energy for planetary consumption.
